Karthi with two Heroines!

The pre-production work of Karthi’s new untitled film with director Suraaj for Studio Green has started.

Six months back the team had signed Anushka to do the role of a glamorous city slicker. Now the latest is that the controversial Nikhita has been signed to play the second lead heroine in this “out and out masala entertainer.”

"Suirya was thoroughly impressed with a one-liner narrated by Venkat Prabhu and is game for working with him. However, it may take some time for the actor to start the film, as he has to honour his earlier commitments as he is busy with Maatraan and would do a film with Hari after that," sources say.

Parvathy Omanakuttan as Ajith’s Heroine!

IN Entertainment (INE), the company that is jointly presenting and producing Ajith's movie Billa 2, along with Suresh Balaje and George Pius led Wide Angle Creations, has confirmed that Parvathy Omanakuttan will be the female lead role in Billa 2.

Billa 2 will mark Parvathy's entry into Tamil Cinema. Parvathy, who is currently based in Mumbai, hails from Kerala and obtained a direct entry into the Femina Miss India 2008 finals, after winning the crown at the Miss India South 2008 competition. She went on to win the Miss India World title while bagging the sub-titles of Miss Photogenic, Miss Personality and Miss Beautiful Hair en route, and carried on to make India proud by becoming the First Runner-Up at the Miss World 2008 competition. In a statement confirming her role in the film, Parvathy has said, "It is like a dream to be making my debut in the Tamil film industry with Ajith Sir. I am delighted to be a part of the Billa franchise and can't wait to start work on the film." Earlier, Huma was signed up to play the principal lead actress role in Billa 2, but she opted out due to some delays in the shooting schedule and a clash of dates with her other projects.

The unit of Billa 2 completed the first 30-day schedule of shooting in Hyderabad and Vizag between July-August. The second schedule has commenced this week in Goa, and will continue for 45 days will the first fortnight of November. Thereafter the unit will head to Georgia in Eastern Europe for the final schedule. The film is expected to complete the principal shooting by the first fortnight of December and the makers have planned an April 2012 release. Watch this space for more updates on Billa 2!

The much-awaited Harris Jayaraj's  Harris on the Edge, his first live concert has been postponed to October 8, due to rains in Chennai.

The music director released a press note with the details of the changes.

The note reads: "The concert is rescheduled to ensure we provide to the spectators a superlative concert without being subject to any weather disturbance. All tickets purchased for this concert till date is valid for October 8, 2011".

Gautham Vasudev Menon, even as busy filming his first trilingual venture 'Neethane En Ponvasantham', seems to have zeroed in on the heroine for 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru', his maiden film with Vijay.

If sources are to be believed, Gautham's 'favourite actress' Sameera Reddy would share the screen space with the Ilayathalapathy in this big-budget venture, which is set to hit the floors by early 2012.

"But an announcement is kept under wraps since Gautham wants to complete Neethane En Ponvasantham, before shifting focus to Yohan Adhyayam Ondru. Vijay too is happy to have Sameera on board," sources say.

Sameera was the leading lady of two of Gautham's earlier movies- 'Varanam Aayiram' and 'Nadunisi Naaygal'. In an interview earlier, the actress mentioned that she would act in a film without even listening to the script, if it is directed by Gautham.

Munni now come up with the word 'Kalasala'!

Simbu starrer Osthi, directed by Dharani, which is the remake of Dabangg, has now found a catch phrase for the song Munni in Tamil.

The song which will feature Mallika Sherawat as the Tamil Munni has now come up with the word 'Kalasala'.

Munni was such a popular word, that the tag was attached to the item girl Malaika that she was called 'Muni' Malaika Arora after the song became huge chart buster.

A source says, “Yes, the song will have the term Kalasala as its buzz word. The word is used as a call for merriment. Director Dharani and Simbu finalized it recently and the song will be recorded shortly.”

The song composed by Thaman is to be sung by Shruti Haasan and the recording will happen next week we hear.

SPB Charan granted anticipatory bail!

Popular playback singer SP Balasubramaniam's son SPB Charan, who was caught in a sex scandal, heaved a sigh of relief as Madras High Court today granted anticipatory bail to him.

SPB Charan, a film maker, apprehended arrest following a complaint against him by Actress Sona of an attempt to outrage her modesty while taking part in a party to celebrate the success of Ajith starrer "Mankatha" recently. The item girl lodged a complaint against him under Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act and IPC section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and threatened to produce videographic evidence.

Passing orders on the bail plea of Mr SPB Charan, the High Court granted him bail for two weeks and directed him to furnish a personal bond for Rs 10,000 with two sureties for like sum. The court has also ordered him to report daily until the next hearing. Meanwhile, reports suggest SPB Charan and Sona are heading for a peace deal.

It is said that SP Balasubrahmaniam, who met Sona recently at a hospital, has requested her to take back the complaint. The item girl has softened her stand and agreed to bury the hatchet but demanded a written apology from SPB Charan.

She had served a ten-day deadline to SPB Charan to tender apology and the deadline is ending today. Last week, after a party at Actor Vaibhav Reddy's house, Sona came out in public alleging that SPB Charan molested her at the party.

Vijay’s Velayutham second biggest release after Endhiran!

Velayutham is getting bigger with each passing day. The film’s UK theater list has been released by Ayngaran International and from that we can decipher that Velayutham is going to have the second biggest release after Rajinikanth’s Endhiran.

According to trade sources, Velayutham will be screened in 26 theatres in UK. Interestingly, Kamal Haasan’s Dasavatharam was screened in about 16 theatres when it was released. The rise in theatres shows the immense popularity that Tamil films and Vijay enjoy in the foreign market.

Shankar's Nanban, the remake of 3 idiots was earlier supposed to be a Diwali treat to the fans. But since Vijay's Velayudham is readying for Diwali, Nanban's release date has been postponed.

SPB Met Sona at the Hospital!

In the “Press” Meet of Sona Heiden, she said that she was recently diagnosed with heart related complications. When she alleged SPB Charan of molestation, she said that she wanted him to apologize in public SPB-Met-Sona-at-the-Hospitaland that she would not take it any easy.

Meanwhile, those concerned came up with answers to the media. Venkat Prabhu said that it was not Mankatha success party as the media had blown it. It was a private party held at Vaibhav’s house. When SPB Charan was questioned about the incident, he said that he was just talking business and no such incident, as Sona had described, happened.

In the meantime, Sona was admitted to the hospital for here now severed heart related complications, following the incident. She felt very depressed after the incident that she aggravated her illness. SP Balasubramaniam paid a visit to the hospital and enquired about her health.

He also asked her to explain what happened at Vaibhav’s house. When she explained, the veteran singer assured that his son would meet her in person and apologize for his deed. This seems to set off speculations that the case will be withdrawn. SP Balasubramaniam has reportedly settled the issue amicably.

Shruti Hassan is a multi talented actress, who can sing, dance, act and write lyrics. The lady who is expecting her debut Tamil flick 7Aum Arivu very eagerly is said to be taking the mic in hand for a song.

We hear that Shruti Hassan is likely to croon for Mallika Sherawat who is going to gyrate to the tunes of the Tamil version of 'Munni' in the Tamil remake of Dabangg – Osthi, for which the music is composed by Thaman.

A Source informs, “Shruti is keen on singing for films and they think she would be a perfect fit for this. Plus, the song requires a slightly different kind of voice and it went on be a superhit in Hindi.”

We also hear that Simbu has shot for a song sequence titled Damaal Doomeel, which was recently shot at a police station.

Considering Simbu is also a singer, we wonder if there will be a combo of Shruti and Simbu crooning to Tamil 'Munni'.

Mallika Sherawat doing item song with Simbu in Osthi!

Bollywood movie Dabangg went on to become a huge hit and this film is now being remade in Tamil and Telugu as Osthi and Gabbar Singh respectively. While in Osthi Silambarasan plays the lead role, in Gabbar Singh it is Pawan Kalyan. The highlight of Dabangg happened to be the item number Munni which was by Malaika Arora Khan.

Since this film is being remade in Tamil and Telugu, there was a huge expectation on who would do this item number. Several names came up for consideration including Nayanthara, Anushka, etc. But now it has been announced that Mallika Sherawat will shake her legs with Silambarasan in Osthi. Nikitha banned by the Kannada Film Producers Association!

Nikitha, who has been banned by the Kannada Film Producers Association (KFPA) for her alleged relationship with actor Darshan which resulted in a storm in his family, has slammed the producers' association's decision.

Talking to journalists, a furious Nikitha said, "The KFPA need not ban me. Let it give me proof about an affair with Darshan." I will voluntarily walk out of the Kannada film industry. The actress said the decision has spoiled her image.
"I think this has been the most hurting decision. What mistake have I committed to undergo such harsh punishments?" she said and added: "I just returned from Mumbai only this morning after completing a modeling assignment. I was shocked."
Leading Kannada actor Darshan was arrested by the Police in the early hours of Friday for allegedly beating up his wife Vijayalakshmi and threatening her with a revolver. Vijayalakshmi had named Nikitha in her police complaint against her husband, which she later withdrew in front of the metropolitan magistrate.

Suriya’s 7am arivu to grace theatres on October 28!

Ace director A.R. Murugadoss' much awaited 7aam Arivu, which has Suriya and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, is likely to grace theatres on October 28, 2011 (Diwali weekend). The director is currently busy with the post production works and the music launch will take place in Chennai on September 22, 2011. The story is said to revolve around a time machine which is brought to India by a scientist. 7aam Arivu is a sci-fi thriller in which Suriya plays a triple role: a circus artist, a Buddhist monk and a scientist. Vietnamese stunt actor Johnny Tri Nguyen will play the baddie.

The film is made with a whopping budget of Rs. 84 crores and interestingly, this is the highest budget film in Suriya's career till date. Producer Udayanidhi Stalin and director Murugadoss have chosen US based Stan Winston Studios, which has created some mesmerizing graphics in Cameroon's Avatar and Shankar's Enthiran, to do the visual effects. Jeeva's costume costs Rs 50 lakh

A designer-attire Jiiva will be wearing in 'Mugamoodi', a super hero subject to be directed by Mysskin, will cost Rs 50 lakh. "It is specially crafted based on specific requirements from the director," sources say.

'Mugamoodi', which is said to be totally new attempt in Tamil cinema, will feature Jiiva as a superhero, thus explaining the whooping price tag his designer wear comes with.
