Chinmayi to marry actor Rahul Ravindran

Popular singer Chinmayi and actor Rahul Ravindran (of Moscowin Kaveri fame) are all set to walk down the aisle soon. The two announced their relationship status on their respective micro-blogging pages by tweeting photos of the other, with a caption that read 'Hello boyfriend' and 'Hello girlfriend'.

The wedding,we hear, will be held early next year. Chinmayi's mother, Padmhasini, says, "I'm very happy to announce that my daughter will be getting married to Rahul. He's a down-to-earth, practical and a simple person. He's well educated and has no airs.We are yet to fix a date for both the engagement and the wedding."


She continues, "It's a love-cum- arranged marriage. Rahul is planning to continue his career from Hyderabad, and Chinmayi is planning to pursue her career from Chennai. So, it's like a long-distance marriage, and the family wanted them to come to terms with that, and I'm glad things have fallen in place."

Music Director James Vasanthan arrested

Popular music director James Vasanthan has been arrested for his alleged derogatory remarks against his neighbour Radha Venuprasad, a 64 year old. Radha, a resident of Palavakkam, has submitted a case against James Vasanthan with Neelankarai police station accusing him of abusing her in foul language.

James Vasanthan and Radha are neighbours living in adjacent plots at VGP Golden Seaview, Palavakkam. Reportedly the trouble started, when the musician had started the construction of his house couple of years back in an adjacent plot. But Radha, a Asthma patient had breathing problems because of the dust rising from the construction site, the neighbours talks ended in verbal attack from both sides. Radha filed a complaint  in May 2011 of verbal abuse and attacking her with a flower pot. However the case is pending in court.

Against this backdrop, now Radha has filed a fresh complaint against him for abusing her with offensive swear words on Saturday morning and urged the police men to take immediate action.

On her complaint, the Neelankarai police have charged James Vasanthan under three acts, including Women Harassment Act.

When contacted,  James Vasanthan denied all the allegations made against him. “It was Radha who abused me on Saturday morning, now I am amused how she  could go on to make to complaint against me . Though I have a good reputation in the society, I am being treated like a terrorist.Over 50 policemen arrived at my house to arrest me, they even manhandled me and my wife. I know the law will take its course. My conscience is clear. I trust in God above all.”, he said.

Padma Shri Vaali died !

VaaliVeteran Indian Tamil language film song lyrics writer, ‘Padma Shri Vaali’; died today (18/07/2013) at around 05:30 PM in ‘Apollo Hospitals’, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

He was 81 years old, survived by his one and only son named ‘Shri. Srinivasan’. His wife ‘Smt. Ramani Thilagam’, aged 70, passed away in ‘September 2009′, due to age related health issues.

The funeral is going to occur tomorrow (19/07/2013) after 03:00 at the ‘Mylapore crematorium’, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

His family members, friends, film industry personnel’s and fans mourn for his death and paying him their last tribute.

We pray the God almighty, to rest his soul in divine peace.

Singer Mano's son enters films!

The popular playback singer, Mano who has been a playback singer for over 25 years in the industry, introduced his son Shakir to the media.

“My son has done an anti hero role in Selva’s Naanga. I didn’t want to talk about it earlier and wanted to introduce him until after the film’s release and only after I received some appreciation for his performance,” said the proud father Mano.

Shakir for his part revealed that he always wanted to act and though he could sing, he preferred being before the camera.

The young man is open to doing all kinds of roles. Asked about his meeting with Rajni he said, “He was very appreciative of my effort and encouraged me as he knows my father very well.”

The actor also met Kamal to receive his blessings, in accordance to his father’s wishes to get the blessings of both Rajni and Kamal for his venture into films.

Asked about how the role came about, Shakir said that he wanted to be a hero in the film but Selva did a test shoot and said that action would suit him better. The young man is in talks with a Telugu director next for a possible hero role.

Ilayaraja Wife Jeeva passes away

Music composer Ilayaraja's wife Jeeva passed away yesterday at her Chennai's T Nagar residence. A source informs that Jeeva who is 60 years old is said to have declared dead when she was brought to the Apollo Hospitals.

We hear that she had a massive heart attack on Monday and was taken to the hospital only to be informed that she has passed away. Jeeva is survived by her husband Ilayaraja, sons Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja, and daughter Bhavatharini.

Ilayaraja who was in Hyderabad for a Telugu film's music composition has arrived Chennai today said reports.

Director Venkat Prabhu, who is Ilayaraja's brother Gangai Amaren's son tweeted, “Thank u all for ur condolences!! We are leaving to our fathers hometown for the funeral!! RIP jeeva periyamma.”

Harris Jayaraj's live concert postponed

The much-awaited Harris Jayaraj's  Harris on the Edge, his first live concert has been postponed to October 8, due to rains in Chennai.

The music director released a press note with the details of the changes.

The note reads: "The concert is rescheduled to ensure we provide to the spectators a superlative concert without being subject to any weather disturbance. All tickets purchased for this concert till date is valid for October 8, 2011".

Murugadoss remaking 'Ramana' in Hindi?

This is the time when the whole nation is standing up against corruption. So there is a buzz in Bollywood as well as Kollywood that director AR Murugadoss would remake 'Ramana', his film which voiced against corruption, in Hindi.

When asked, Murugadoss, who was giving finishing touches to '7am Arivu', his next film starring Suriya in the lead role(s), was neither ready to deny the idea nor to conform it.

"I would like to remake Ramana in Bollywood. But I am not sure when I would do it," the director said and added: "My next project will be a Tamil film with Vijay, which I will be starting post the release of 7am Arivu."

'Ramana' starring Vijayakanth in the lead role was about a college professor who unites his students and starts a movement against corruption. Following its stupendous success, Murugadoss remade the film in Telugu with Chiranjeevi, titled 'Tagore'.

Emotional scenes were witnessed at Chithra’s house at Virugambakkam in Chennai Friday, when the body of Nandana, daughter of the popular playback singer, who drowned in a swimming pool at a villa in Dubai Thursday, was brought there.

Ilayaraja, Ganesh, Sreekumaran Thampi, S P Balasubramaniam, S Janaki, P Suseela, , Mano, S P Shylaja, Sharath, Rajamani, Sujatha, actor Ajith accompanied by wife Shalini and sportsperson Shiny Wilson visited Chithra’s house.

Chithra’s fans lined up the entire stretch from Dasarathapuram to AVM studios while the body was being taken in a slow-moving convoy. Hundreds threw flowers and paid their last respects in silence.

The award-winning singer was in Dubai with family to take part in a musical event at Sharjah Cricket Stadium when her only child, eight-year-old Nandana slipped into a swimming pool and drowned at the upmarket Emirates Hills, a gated community.

Nandana was born to Chithra and her husband Vijayashankar after nearly 15 years of marriage.

Singer Chitra's daughter who is 8 year old dies of drowning in a swimming pool The family who was in Dubai for a concert of AR Rahman, had to face this shocking incident.

It is said that Chitra and her husband Vijayashankar were in Dubai's Emirates villa, where the daughter had accidentally fallen in to a nearby swimming pool and died of drowning on Thurday morning.

Nandana, was born to the couple after 15 years of marriage and is said that she is a spastic child. Chitra had named her daughter after the Malayalam movie Nandanam for which she received the Kerala government’s award.

A source says , "The girl was found dead in the swimming pool of a villa in the Emirates Hills. The door was found open and the girl was found drowned in the swimming pool. Even though she was rescued and rushed to the Jebel Ali hospital, the girl died. The dead body was kept in the Jebel Ali hospital."

Singer Chitra who has been singing for many years in many of Indian languages gets condolences and support from the Music industry and many of her fans prays for the couple.

Satya Sai Baba's condition critical

The doctors, who are treating Sai Baba at Higher Medical Sciences at Puttaparthi, on Monday said that his condition has worsened.


The hospital issued a statement that said "Sathya Sai Baba continues to be on ventilator support for helping his respiration and suction of the secretions from the lungs. He continues to be on CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) system to help the functioning of the kidneys."

Hospital director A.N. Safaya said though Sai Baba’s condition is critical, they were using every possible medical intervention and there is no cause for anxiety. He appealed to the devotees to pray for his recovery and not try to enter the hospital.

His followers have turned anxiuos after knowing his critical state of health.People from nearby places have started arriving at Puttaparthy to enquire about baba’s health.
The market has worn a deserted look. People were seen gathering in small groups at all the places.

Malaysia Vasudevan passes away

The rapport Malaysia Vasudevan shared with many in the Tamil film industry was evident on Sunday, when they were present at his residence in Chennai on Sunday, to pay their last respects to the celebrated singer-actor who passed away earlier in the day.

Kamal Haasan, who was visibly upset, said, “He has been my friend, my voice and co-actor for many years. He was ill for a long time and I had recently gone with SPB to meet him.”

Music composer Deva, who had used Vasudevan’s voice for several films, said, “His was a solid voice which emoted in a beautiful way. The Tamil music industry will sure miss him a lot.”

AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa condoled Vasudevan’s death and recalled that he had sung around 8000 songs. “His demise is a big loss to the Tamil cinema industry,” she said and expressed her condolences to the bereaved family members.

Yuvan Shankar Raja to enter wedlock this year!

Yuvan Shankar Raja has confirmed that he has decided to enter wedlock this year. “But I am not sure whether the girl would be of my choice or the one selected by my parents,” says the music composer.

Busy with works related to his first live concert in Chennai, which is scheduled next weekend, the younger son of maestro Illayaraja says, “My parents have given me freedom to take a decision on my life.”

Happy about joining hands with Selvaraghavan again, Yuvan says, “The script of ‘Irandam Ulagam’ was awesome and am thrilled to score music for it. The joy is doubly so since the director is my good friend Selva.”

On the live concert, he says, “I have planned to try some new things at the event. Thanks to the support from my colleagues and friends, I hope the concert would become a big success.”

Arvind Swamy Divorce his wife Gayathri

Roja and Bombay  fame Aravind Swamy and his wife of 16 years, Gayathri Ramamurthy had parted a few months back.

Now their divorce is coming through without any acrimonious statements or mud slinging!

The couple has agreed to the exhaustive set of terms and conditions covering maintenance, custody of children and visiting rights.

The divorce is as per mutual consent and Aravind Swamy will pay a one-time settlement payment of Rs 75 lakhs and a monthly one-time payment of Rs 1 lakh towards maintenance.

It comes with a rider that it will be paid as long as Gayathri does not remarry, and there will be no enhancement of the amount under any circumstances.

The couple who have two children have now expressly agreed to leave the custody of the children with Aravind Swamy, who shall be responsible for their upbringingand education.

Gayathri will have custody rights every Saturday and she will be allowed to spend seven days with the children during their summer holidays.

Vanitha complaint Arun Vijay

The Nungambakkam police have registered a case against Arun Vijay and three others, based on a complaint filed by his half sister Vanitha Vijayakumar.

Vanitha had complained to the city police commissioner that on the day of her husband's arrest, three persons had barged into her house around 2AM in the night and tried to assault her.

Vanitha said one of the gang members forced her to speak to Arun Vijay who threatened to kill her, if she lodged a complaint against the family.

The family dispute within the Vijayakumar family is getting from bad to worse. The latest is Vanitha threatening to spill family secrets with an autobiographical book that she plans to write.

Vanitha raised a new issue against her family

Earlier Vijayakumar's son-in-law was arrested due to the complaint logged by Vijayakumar following a family dispute. The Chennai suburban police arrested Vanitha Vijayakumar's husband, Anandarajan at his office in Nungambakkam.

Now, Vanitha Vijayakumar has raised a new issue regarding their family dispute. She has accused her father and step-brother for threatening her and her second husband Anandarajan. She has confessed to the media that the police have not reacted properly to her complaint. She also added that the Chennai police is moving the case in favour of her step-brother and her father Vijayakumar.

Moreover she said that  Arun Vijay, director Hari - husband of Preetha Vijaykumar, and father Vijaykumar are jealous of her growth as their company Vijay Kumar Video Entertainment is doing good business. Finally she threatened to commit suicide leaving behind a note holding Vijayakumar, Hari and Arun Vijay responsible for it.

Shankar’s '3 Rascals' to kickoff on December 6

According to the earlier reports, Shankar was about to start the Telugu remake of 3 idiots first. The latest buzz suggests that, Shankar will be apparently working on Tamil and Telugu remakes of '3 Idiots'. The bitter part is that only Vijay and Mahesh Babu have been confirmed for playing Aamir Khan's part in Tamil and Telugu versions respectively.

The movie will be simultaneously shot in both Tamil and Telugu, as a bilingual, starring Mahesh Babu in Telugu and Vijay in Tamil. Vijay’s and Mahesh Babu’s portions only will be shot along with Ileana’s who plays Kareena Kapoor’s role of the Hindi version. This is because the other two actors are not finalized till now.


As many of the stars who were proposed with the offer have turned their hands down, Jeeva is likely to be signed for the movie. Sathyaraj will be apt for Professor Cherian’s role as in the book ‘Five Point Someone’.

Director Shankar summoned by High court

In the recent past, Endhiran's story was claimed by two well-known writers, which followed their legal complaints to the government authorities. But there were no response from the Director and Producer's side regarding this issue.

While commenting on this issue, Aarur Tamil Nadan says, “I wrote a novel named 'Jugiba' which is published in the year1996 and 2007 in a magazine with my consent. The director and producer had made this film based on the story written by me”.

The second one to lodge a complaint against Endhiran's makers was Arnika Nasar who is well known for science fiction novels. In regard with this issue writer Arnika Nasar lodged a complaint at the Chennai city Police Commissioner’s Office.

The Chennai high court on Tuesday issued summons to the director and the producer of ‘Endhiran’ on receiving a complaint from the writer who claimed that the story was illegally taken from his book.
The civil suit was present for admission before Justice S Rajeswaran and he asked the production house Sun Pictures and Shankar to answer the file by November 18. The film is already released and doing a good business. Sun Pictures also opposed any temporary order to see that the film will continue its screening.

GV Prakash,Saindhavi are tying the knot

GV Prakash Kumar the young talented music director and nephew of AR Rahman  and singer Saindhavi are tying the knot next year.

The soft spoken GV as he is known among friends, announced that he will get married by December 2011 after his Bollywood debut.

He also added that they had fallen in love during school days and has now decided to make it official with the blessings of their respective parents.

GV had made his debut with Veyil followed by films like Kireedam, Pollathavan, Aayirathil Oruvan, Angadi Theru, Madhrasapattinam and many other hits. Chennai based Saindhavi is a trained classical singer and her claim to fame is AR Rahman's  Anniyan number Andankakka.

On why Saindhavi has not sung under him, GV is quick to respond with a smile:  "She had not sung for me but  L.Vijay director of Madharasapattinam suggested her name and she sang for the hit number .. Aaruyire in the film.  She is also singing for Vijay’s next film under my baton"
