Amy Jackson pairing with Kamal in Viswaroopam!

Amy Jackson is the latest to join the cast list in Kamal Haasan much-awaited Viswaroopam. The film went on floors on the outskirts of Chennai recently. Since the film required a foreign actress, the producers have signed Amy Jackson, a British actress, for the role. Bollywood actor Rahul Bose is likely to play the villain in the film. Rahul is reportedly growing his beard to look perfect for the role. Apart from directing the film, Kamal has also penned its screenplay, dialogues and lyrics. Sources also confirm that Viswaroopam will be a trilingual being made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Murugadoss remaking 'Ramana' in Hindi?

This is the time when the whole nation is standing up against corruption. So there is a buzz in Bollywood as well as Kollywood that director AR Murugadoss would remake 'Ramana', his film which voiced against corruption, in Hindi.

When asked, Murugadoss, who was giving finishing touches to '7am Arivu', his next film starring Suriya in the lead role(s), was neither ready to deny the idea nor to conform it.

"I would like to remake Ramana in Bollywood. But I am not sure when I would do it," the director said and added: "My next project will be a Tamil film with Vijay, which I will be starting post the release of 7am Arivu."

'Ramana' starring Vijayakanth in the lead role was about a college professor who unites his students and starts a movement against corruption. Following its stupendous success, Murugadoss remade the film in Telugu with Chiranjeevi, titled 'Tagore'.

Vijay fasting with Anna Hazare at Ramlila Maidan!

Popular Tamil actor Vijay on Thursday joined a number of celebrities in expressing support to Anna Hazare’s fast for a strong Lokpal, saying the Gandhian’s stir has triggered a nationwide debate on uprooting corruption.

Mr. Vijay flew in from Chennai on Thursday morning and met Mr. Hazare at the Ramlila Maidan, the venue of his fast.

Saluting Mr. Hazare’s “will power”, Mr. Vijay said the way the movement is getting public support that too without any political background is praiseworthy.

“The movement has triggered a nationwide debate on uprooting corruption. I am very proud to be here as a Tamil. I pray for his good health,” he told Mr. Hazare’s supporters.

Sun Pictures got TV rights for ‘Mankatha', '7aam Arivu’!

First it was reported that Dayanidhi Azhagiri of Cloud Nine Movies has given the distribution rights of his production movie Mankatha to Studio Green headed by KE Gnanavel Raja.

Later we got to know that after some family disputes, they had given the Television Satellite rights of Thala Ajith's Mankatha to Sun Pictures. But now we hear that the distribution of the film will be handled together by Cloud Nine Movies as well as Sun Pictures, while the Satellite rights has been sold to Sun Pictures.

They had also stated that the selling to Studio Green was a clever to release the movie as per plans on the 31st of August, as some distributors were preventing from the same to happen unless the concern production house, pays for the losses incurred due to their previous releases Va Quarter Cutting and Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai.

Meanwhile another report suggests that Sun Pictures has also bagged the satellite rights of AR Murugadoss's 7am Arivu which stars Surya and Shruti Hassan in the lead and is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. Red Giant is also going to distribute the movie suggests certain sources.

We hear that they are also planning a live telecast of the film’s audio launch which is likely to be held in Singapore.

Rajinikanth's Sultan the Warrior name changed!

We had earlier reported that Rajinikanth's Sultan the Warrior, a live action animated movie will be completed even before his period movie Rana will hit the theaters.

Produced by Soundarya Ashwin's Ocher Studios which is also produced by Warner Bros, the film is getting Ready at a rapid speed and as suggested earlier the film has gone for a tittle change.

The confusion of title occurred earlier when Sultan was mistaken to be Rana and the confusion were cleared stating its two different movies. Now Sultan which was recently reported to have a Tamil title for its multi lingual live action animated movie, now becomes 'Dheera'.

The title Dheera which means the Brave one has been chosen as its Tamil title for the film. A source informs media, “Soundarya Rajinikanth was keen the film should have a Tamil title. Three titles were shortlisted and Dheera in all probability will be the final and fitting one.”

We also hear that Rajini who plays two different roles in the movie, will have Sultan and Dheera as his character names. Seems like this film is competing with SRK's Ra.One!

Anushka replaced by Tamanna !

Actress Anushka Shetty who has been reported to be part of Director-actor-choreogrpaher Raghava Lawrence's Telugu movie Rebel opposite actor Prabhas has been replaced by Tamanna.

Sources state that the film which was to go on floors long back got delayed as Prabhas was busy with the promotions of Mr Perfect while Lawrence was busy with his Kaanchana Munni Part 2.

Now when the film was about to start role Anushka Shetty has walked out of the film due to creative differences with the Director!

Reports has it that Anushka has been replaced with Tamanna who has given back to back hits like 100% Love with Naga Chaitanya and Badrinath with Allu Arjun in Telugu.

Rebel is being produced by J Bhagwan and J Pulla Rao under the banner of Sri Balaji Cine Media. The film's music is scored by Thaman and the Camera is handled by Ram Prasad. Rebel is expected to hit the screens in December.

Andrea dubs for Ileana in ‘Nanban’!

Actress Andrea Jeremiah has been dubbing for Shankar’s upcoming film ‘Nanban’.  No, the singer-cum-actress, who is a stunner in her own right, isn’t a part of the film’s cast which has Vijay, Srikanth, Jeeva, Ileana, SJ Suriyah and others.  She is dubbing for heroine Ileana’s character in the film.  Incidentally, it would be a comeback for Ileana, who debuted in Tamil films with ‘Kedi’ some years back and then disappeared from the scene.

Shankar reportedly paid a whopping Re.1 crore to Ileana to bring her back to Tamil films.  Ileana, who is cast opposite Vijay in the film, is said to have made life hell for Shankar and the rest of the crew with her starry tantrums.  Despite her tantrums and a largely non-cooperative attitude, Shankar has successfully finished her portions in the film.  Ileana is also said to be doing the same thing in Tollywood as well.

It appears that the trouble had spilled over to Andrea who arrived at Chennai’s Kothadndapani Dubbing Theatre to dub for Ileana’s portions in the film.  Some dubbing artistes, who had already assembled there, staged a mini-protest saying that they won’t allow Andrea to dub for the film as Andrea wasn’t a permanent member of the Dubbing Artistes’ Association.

Andrea waited for a few minutes and was pondering her next move.  When Shankar came to know of it, he immediately arranged for Rs.60,000 to be paid to the Association to make Andrea a permanent member.  After the money was paid, Andrea didn’t face any hurdle and started her dubbing work!

Lakshmi Rai denies the rumours!

 

Lakshmi Rai has often been linked-up with most of her co-stars and some cricketers. This time, she was tagged with director-turned-actor Raghava Lawrence. However, she has denied those speculations again.

It was all started after Lakshmi Rai was roped in to act with him for Kanchana. Lakshmi Rai claims that it is not a crime to work with an actor in more than one film. In fact, the actress, who worked with him earlier in Super Cowboy and Tamil film Pen Singam (Guest appearance with him), says that she was not the first choice for the recently released Telugu film.

Raghave Lawrence had approached Anushka Shetty before offering the same role to Lakshmi Rai. The former, who turned down the offer due to her commitments with other projects, was replaced by the latter in Kanchana. The actress adds that he is a good friend of him and they share a good working relationship. He concludes on the note that nothing is cooking between them.

While the Tamil Film Industry is under going fasting today to show their support for Anna Hazare's Ani Corruption campaign to pass the Lok Jan pal Bill, we hear that Superstar Rajinikanth also shows his support for the same.

The Bollywood celebrities had been very vocal about their support for Anna Hazare, while many Kollywood celebrities ere not expressing the thoughts thinking about the political remarks that might affect them.

But in a press statement released by the star, Rajinikanth had stated, “There can be no doubt that corruption is a dreaded disease that needs to be weeded from the Indian Society. I am very happy that we have a very able and dedicated leader in Anna Hazare to lead us in this fight against corruption.

I whole-heartedly support the India Against Corruption Movement in their campaign to get Jan Lokpal bill legislated in parliament.

I congratulate all the Indians who have lent their support to this bloodless revolution. This kind of peaceful movement is possible only in India which is the birthplace of Satyagraha. I am very proud to be an Indian.”

Surya to produce his own film!

Most frontline heroes have amassed enough money to start producing their own films. But why risk their savings? So most stay intelligently away from that. Most actors happily give heir call sheet, act, and collect their fees.

Now Surya says he plans to turn producer. Recently, at the film function of AR Murugadoss’s ‘Engeyum Eppodhum’ starring Jai and Anjali, Surya said, “I am happy to see Murugadoss turn into a producer. I’m happier he has made a director of his own assistant director. It is laudable of him to give opportunities to newcomers in the industry. Seeing this, I am motivated to become a producer. I would like to produce 2 films a year and give opportunities to newcomers. I hope to put my thoughts into action starting from next year.”

Surya is already putting his plan to work. He is spreading the word in the film industry to recommend talented assistant directors who have good stories for the celluloid. It could take off by Jan or Feb 2012.

Ajith’s Mankatha date announced!

Ayngaran International the leading distributors of Tamil films in the overseas market has announced the release date of Ajith’s Mankatha as August 31!

They have informed theatres in overseas markets that Mankatha will release for Ramzan (Aug 31) and has also booked screens.

On their website it clearly states that the Venkat Prabhu directed Ajith’s 50th film will release on Aug 31.

It is a smart move by Ayngaran, to block theatres screening Tamil films in advance, so that others will not take away this “important Weekend”.

The other big Indian film releasing on the same day worldwide  is Salman Khan’s Bodyguard.

The mother-daughter duo of Uma Krishnan and Trisha make their first appearance together in an ad for the famous Kohinoor Basmati rice.

Vijay, who has directed Trisha in Kireedom earlier, directed this ad which was shot by ace cameraman Ratnavel.

A source close to the ad agency told :“The concept was about a mother and daughter and we wanted a noted actress. So we zeroed in on Trisha and her mom Uma in Tamil along with Soha Ali Khan and her mom Sharmila Tagore in Hindi. We had tough  time convincing Uma Krishnan who has refused big film offers to be a part of it, but when she read the concept she agreed”

The ad and photoshoot was done in Chennai and both Uma and Trisha dubbed in their own voice which makes the ad very realistic.

When contacted Trisha said: “ I really enjoyed doing the shoot with my mom and I think more than me talking, the concerned people should be making an official announcement and press release soon.”

Ajmal Ameer say no to liplock!

Upcoming Malayalam-Tamil-Telugu actor Ajmal Ameer has refused to kiss actress Aparnaa Bajpai in his upcoming Tamil film Karuppampatti, being directed by Prabhu Raja Cholan.

Sources further said that Prabhu Raja Cholan tried his best to convince the actor to perform the passionate liplock scene, promising that it would be shot aesthetically. Here is an interesting titbit about Vijay's Velayudham! According to sources, Vijay was close to tears and fought hard to control his emotions after watching the climax of the film. He was moved by Jayam Raja's extraordinary direction skills and Priyan's camera work. To appreciate the team effort, Vijay also gifted gold chains to all his chief technicians.

Reportedly director Raja has left no stone unturned to make it a grand climax. The climax scene involves almost 5000 artistes, 1000 vans and extras. Looks like Kamal Haasan's 'heroine hunt' for 'Viswaroopam' has come to an end, as the Ulaganayagan, according to sources, has finally zeroed in on Anushka to play the female lead in the mega budget movie.

Directed by Kamal himself, 'Viswaroopam' initially had Sonakshi Sinha on-board. However, since the film's shoot got delayed, the Bollywood heroine opted out of the project, reportedly citing call-sheet reasons.

Then started a heroine hunt as well as a guessing game, with the media predicting a new actress's name every passing day. With no official confirmation from Kamal's side, the game intensified, resulting in many stories on 'Viswaroopam'.

Now it is said that Anushka has been roped in by Kamal, as he feels that the actress's popularity in south India would help the multilingual, which is to be simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Suriya’s 7aam Arivu music launch on August 20!

The music of director A.R. Murugadoss' 7aam Arivu, which has Suriya and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, will be launched on August 20, 2011. The director is currently busy with the post production works. The story is said to revolve around a time machine which is brought to India by a scientist (played by Shruti or Suriya according to conflicting versions). The film is also being dubbed in Hindi and Telugu.

7aam Arivu is a sci-fi thriller in which Suriya plays a double role: a circus artist and Buddhist monk. Vietnamese stunt actor Johnny Tri Nguyen will play the baddie. Ravi K. Chandran handles the camera. According to sources, Suriya is also planning to perform the circus stunts he has learnt during 7aam Arivu live for his fans at the audio launch of the film, which is likely to take place in Chennai.

Meanwhile there are reports that Suriya will sport the look of a Buddhist monk for only 20 minutes in the film.

Sameera Reddy has been finalized to pair with Kamal Hassan!

While after finalising Sonakshi Sinha the movie which got delayed had to waste Sonakshi's dates and now been pushed to look for a new leading lady for the movie.

After many stories that Kamal has approached Isha Sherwani, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor and even Deepika Padukone for the movie we now hear that Sameera Reddy has been finalized to play the lead.

Hansika who is already looking after the education of 19 kids in Mumbai not only personally oversees their well-being but find time to take them out for a drive in her car, go to the beach and buy them ice-creams. 

Quiz her if she has become more mature as she is turning 20 and she is quick to reply: “It’s just that I have become more confident and when you feel that you are accepted, you become more comfortable in your space. And that shows in my personality”.
