Rajini is doing well !

Lata Rajinikanth met the media at the SRMC hospital today (May 19)where Rajinikanth has been admitted.

According to her Rajinikanth is "doing well and he has moved to the ICU as it is a more protected and sterile area."

Lata made it clear that the superstar "was suffering from minor stomach ailment and respiratory infection. He is out of danger and his health is stable".

The superstar’s wife dismissed reports that his health is deteriorating. Says Lata: "In fact today afternoon he was cracking jokes and looking cheerful and had a normal meal".

She also clarified that all "his organs are fine and functioning properly."
Lata also made it clear that "he is human being and does not have super human powers. He needs time and I hope the fans and the media will give us some privacy."

Meera Jasmine to quit movies soon!

National award winning actress Meera Jasmine, who has garnered over 35 awards in her filmi career of 10 years for her impressive performances in some of the best super hits in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, is likely to quit movies soon.

One of the reasons behind her retirement from movies is said to be her upcoming marriage with her long time beau Mandolin Rajesh. Mandolin Rajesh, who belongs to an orthodox Hindu family in Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, announced in October 2010 that he would marry the actress in 2011.

Another reason is her back-to-back debacles. The actress had a string of flops in Malayalam in the last two years: Minnaminikootam, Calcutta News, Ore Kadal, Pattinte Palazhi and Mohabbat. Her recent Tamil films Pen Singam and Ilanjian were too colossal flops. The buzz is that due to the failure of her films at the box office, no producer is willing to sign her up, forcing her to quit films.

Tamanna in bikini!

According to new reports, Tamanna has agreed to sport a bikini in Ram Charan Teja's forthcoming film Rachcha, starting from May 22 in Hyderabad.

Interestingly, Ram Charan Teja underwent 45 days physical training at David Barton’s gym to develop his 8 pack abs, the major attraction of the film, and to match up with the hero’s effort, the makers asked the heroine to sport the two piece bikini, consequently adding more glamour to the movie, it is heard.

Rachcha, an out-and-out commercial film by director Sampanth Nandi (who earlier directed Emaindi Ee Vela with Varun Sandesh), is produced by Paras Jain and N.V. Prasad under the banner of Mega Super Good Films. Devi Sri Prasad is scoring music.

Akshay Kumar in Siruthai remake!

Karthi's super hit Siruthai is going to be remade in Hindi by director Prabhu Deva, which will be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The film will have Bollywood's original khiladi Akshay Kumar and the hot 'n' happening Sonakshi Sinha in the lead.

Siruthai , a mass masala action entertainer, was a remake of Ravi Teja film Vikramarkudu in Telugu.

The remake went on to become 2011's most successful Tamil film so far at the box-office.

Vikramarkudu and Siruthai became super hits because Ravi Teja and Karthi could carry the difficult dual role of a street smart goonda and a rough and tough police officer successfully.

The buzz from Bollywood is that, after seeing both the films, the makers felt that Akshay Kumar would suit the role in Hindi, as it has all the mass elements.

Ravikumar's reassurance!

KS Ravikumar the director of Rajinikanth's Rana has pooh-poohed rumours making the rounds that the film has been shelved. He is quoted by a leading newspaper as saying: "Rana is on. There are no plans to shelve or postpone the film. Reports suggesting otherwise are false."

Ravikumar added that work is going on for the film. He had gone to Thailand to scout locations for the movie.

Ravikumar made it clear: "I will be going to London for further location hunt. Anyway as per the original plans the shoot was to take place only by July end. "

Namitha agreed to dance on the roadside stage!

Usually, politicians wait for nothing, especially when they are in power! But the Tamil Nanu Khadi Board minister K. Ramachandran, a special invitee of a cultural programme held in Ooty on Wednesday by a Kerala-based jewellery shop owner, had to wait for 45 minutes for another special guest Namitha’s arrival. Namitha had agreed to dance on the roadside stage at the event.

The programme wasn’t trouble-free, since just minutes after celebrities Namitha and Jayam Ravi left the scene, the police and the Forest Department officials rushed to the spot to conduct a raid, saying that they have received a complaint from animal activists alleging that snakes were brought to the show by the dancers.

The police closed Commercial Road for nearly two hours, but could find nothing. Onlookers said the dancers and public brought nearly half-a-dozen snakes and they disappeared when the officials came. However, B. Bulganin, ranger of the forest protection squad, who led the search operations, said a case against the showroom management has been filed at the Nilgiris North forest division.
