Simbu’s Silambattam is red hot!

Lakshmi Movie Makers 25th production Silambarasan’s Silambattam has suddenly become hot in the market. The film is now confirmed to release worldwide on December 18, as the big Christmas release.

Most of the theatrical rights of the film have gone for very attractive prices. Coimbatore area has gone for a record Rs 1.89 crore, the highest ever paid for a Simbu film.Similarly Madurai, TK and South Arcot have gone for high prices at a time when the market is down.

The poster designs of the film are attracting the distributors. In the film Simbu plays a temple priest who due to certain circumstances is forced to take law into his hands. A Mumbai model Sana Khan is being introduced as the film’s glamorous heroine. It is cameraman Saravanan’s directorial debut film

Silambattam songs of Yuvan Shankar Raja has also hit the bulls eye in the countdown charts. The song Where is the party tonight?... is already a hot favourite. Vijay's 50th film was titled 'Vettaikaran.'

Villu’ directed by Prabhudeva is Vijay’s 49th film. Following this, his 50th was to be produced by AVM. It was even titled ’Vettaikaran.’ This is the remake of director Siddique’s Malayalam film ’Bodyguard.’

In a discussion with Siddique, Vijay has requested him to make changes for the Tamil version and also to suit his image. But it’s said Siddique was not for it. When ’Kadhaparayumpol’ was changed in ’Kuselan,’ it caused distress to director Srinivasan. Siddique naturally does not want his story to also become a casualty like that.

When SA Chandrasekhar heard the story for ’Jayam’ Raja, he decided that could be Vijay’s 50th film. Vijay was also agreeable to that, so Raja will direct Vijay’s 50th film. So ’Vettaikaran’ could be Vijay’s 51st film.

Nayanthara turns to malluwood

Hot actress Nayantara[images] has decided to return to Malayalam after 4 long years. She has signed a Malayalam film in which Dileep is the hero. Titled Bodyguard, the film is to be directed by Siddhique.

The hot news about the film is Nayantara’s salary. In Tamil she has refused to reduce her salary from 1.25 crores (The amount fixed by Lingusamy for Paiya). But in Malayalam she has agreed for just one fifth of the salary i.e., 25 lakhs for Bodyguard. But this amount is considered as the highest salary paid ever to an actress in Malayalam film history.

Nayantara said. "Money is not a matter to me. Self respect is more important than anything. Now I’m very happy and free from all frustration through doing this Malayalam film. But my next Tamil film will be the biggest one and I’ll also do a Telugu film in 2009. There will be four big films lined up for me this year... I never bother about losing a film to save my dignity!"

Arya's “Naan Kadavul" delayed for pongal

Director Bala had started this project with fabulous opening and he chooses many leading names for the lead role but finally zeroed at Arya. Nayanthara replacing by Tamanna

After Nayanthara decided to walk out of Lingusamy’s Paiyya, several names like Saranya Mohan, Vijayalakshmi and few others were tossed around.

It seems Karthi and his advisors were very clear that only an actress of the same stature like Nayanthara would come in as the replacement. Meanwhile the media wrote that Trisha is the new replacement which the actress denied.

But the latest buzz is that Lingusamy has pulled off a coup by casting Tamanna who is the fastest rising glamour girl in Kollywood opposite Karthi in the film.

Tammu who just did not have any dates, as she is busy in Tamil and Telugu has gone out of her way to accommodate Paiyya, for which she is likely to do the first schedule from December end. The pretty young thing has two big releases lined up for Pongal 2009- Anandathandavam and Padikathavan. She also has two biggies Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kashtam in Telugu and Ayan in Tamil to be completed.

Then she has given confirmed dates to Moserbaer for their Kannan directed Raja Rani, the Tamil remake of Jab We Met.
