Karthi hosting a grand reception today!

Karthi Sivakumar, who tied the knot with Ranjini in Coimbatore on Sunday, will host a grand reception to his colleagues, friends and well-wishers at a popular five star hotel at Guindy in Chennai later this evening.

The list of high profile guests who are expected to greet the young couple at the reception has the names of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK president M Karunanidhi and big guns of south Indian cinema.

"Karthi's wedding in Coimbatore was for his relatives in the Kongu land. The reception this evening is for his friends in Chennai. Grand arrangements are being made by Sivakumar and Suriya," say sources.

The Sivakumars share a very good rapport with everyone in the industry and in the media. Hence it is expected that the who is who of the city's posh circles will turn up for the wedding reception and greet the couple.

Simbu excited abt Gautham’s next project!

Gautham Vasudev Menon, who helped the actor to change his image with 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya',and also approached him to do a movie again, that is expected to go on floors next year.

However, contrary to earlier reports Simbu does not confirm that it is 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' sequel, but maintains they haven�t yet zeroed in on the script. We must remember that it was he who had given interview to a daily, a few days back, confirming on the sequel, but things seems to be unsure now, in terms of the script.

"I am not sure whether it is a sequel to 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' or a totally different script. But I am happy to join hands with Gautham Menon again," says Simbu, who is currently busy with at least three projects.

Heaping laurels on the director, he says, "Gautham knows the pulse of the youngsters well. The way he presents a love story is something different and extraordinary. And it was visible in 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya'."

Working simultaneously for 'Vettai Mannan', 'Podaa Podi' and 'Osthi', Simbu says, "I am happy to bag interesting and promising projects. I want to show some difference and improvement in each film of mine."

Suriya - Hari team coming back!

Suriya, who has just wrapped up the shooting of Murugadoss' 7Am Arivu opposite Shruti Haasan, is currently busy with K.V. Anand's Matraan. In this film, Suriya will reportedly sport five different looks. For the first time, Kajal Aggarwal will be paired opposite Suriya in this film produced by AGS Entertainments.

The latest buzz is that after completing Matraan, Suriya will team up with director Hari for the third time after Aaru, Vel and Singam. The film will be a full fledged action entertainer in typical Hari style.

Shriya Saran out of 'Rowthiram’!

No we don't mean that Shriya Saran is not a part of 'Rowthiram,' it's just that rumours are now doing the rounds that the character that Shriya Saran will play in this film, will lose her life in this action packed thriller and Jiiva will avenge her death.

'Rowthiram' is produced by Jiiva's father, RB Choudary and has Jiiva and Shirya Saran in the lead roles, with Prakash Raj and Jayaprakash essaying pivotal roles. The film has been directed by debutant Gokul and is gearing up for a release.

Although, we can't be sure, some birdies are claiming that Shriya will be killed by goons in this movie, whose death Jiiva will avenge. Shriya who will fall in love with Jiiva admiring his gutsy self, lands herself in trouble, and her last words to Jiiva are of encouragement asking him to carry on with his mission.

Well, whether this is really true or not, we can't be sure until the film hits the screens, but looks like 'Rowthiram' has a lot action in store, along with great performance scope for Shriya...

Ajith’s Mankatha shoot completed!

Thala Ajith and his team have wrapped up the shoot of Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabhu, in Bangkok recently. The latest buzz is that the film will grace theatres on Independence day (August 15, 2011). According to sources, Ajith was very pleased with the way Mankatha has shaped up. The film has been shoot in Chennai, Dharavi slums in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangkok and Macau.

Mankatha, Ajith's 50th film, has a huge star cast which includes Trisha, Arjun, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Premji, Ashwin, Vaibhav, Mahant, Anjali, Andrea and others. Cloud Nine Movies has produced this action thriller which is rumoured to narrate the story of match-fixing sagas in international cricket matches.

law students protested against Nakul!

Train traffic came to a halt at Chengalpattu railway station Monday evening after a section of law students protested against Nakul and the crew members of the upcoming film 'Vallinam' for allegedly abusing them.

If sources are to be believed, at least three trains faced trouble to move from Chengalpattu, which is one of the important suburbs of Chennai, after students of the law college sat on tracks near platforms 3, 4 and 5, demanding the arrest of Nakul, stunt master Selvam and others.

According to the students, the shoot of 'Vallinam' was taking place at the railway station and some of them wanted the autograph of Nakul. However, crew members of the movie denied permission to them and went on to abusing the gathered.

Following the protest of students, police and railway higher officials rushed to the spot and tried to pacify them. However, the agitating students demanded strict action, following which Nakul and Selvam were taken for interrogation by the police.
