Actress Manorama hospitalized!

Veteran actress Manorama, popularly known as Aachi (Grandmother), has been hospitalized after she had a fall in the bathroom. The former actress is on ventilator support at a city hospital  in Chennai. This supreme comedienne completed 50 years in films recently.

Interestingly, she is the only actor who has acted with four Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, namely Annadurai (Naan Kanda Hindu Rajyam), Karunanidhi (Udaya Sooryan), M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa (Nidhi and Galata Kalyanam). She has also acted with the legendary NTR, who later became the Chief Minister of A.P.

We wishes a speedy recovery to this evergreen actress!

Ajith’s Billa 2 unveiled!

Ajith’s Billa 2 directed by Chakri Toleti  is making brisk progress in Goa, where the second schedule of the film is taking place.

On Diwali day the producers of the film In Entertainment and Wide Angle issued a logo design ad of the film.

Billa 2 is one of 2012’s most eagerly awaited films, especially after Ajith’s Mankatha became a super hit. The film has Ajith, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruno Abdullah, Rahman and Prabhu. It has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Cinematographer Nirav Shah is shooting Billa 2 in some new Goa locations with Selvakumar as the art director.   For the first time in India, Nirav and Chakri are filming it with an RED EPIC Camera, being shot at 5K resolution.

The first look of Billa 2 with Ajith’s look for the film will be revealed only early next year. The film is scheduled to be released as Ajith’s big summer release in April 2012.

Samantha failed to impress Mani Ratnam!

Earlier, we have reported that ace director Mani Ratnam is back to his favourite forte: romantic musicals. According to sources, Mani Ratnam's next will be an intense love story based on the sensitive issue of plight of Rameshwaram fishermen at the hands of Sri Lankan Navy. The film will have actor Karthik's son Gautham in the lead role. It is heard that recently the director called Tollywood sensation Samantha for a screen test at his office in Chennai. However she failed to impress the ace director and was eventually rejected. The director is still looking for a suitable actress for his film.

Veteran cinematographer Rajeev Menon and music director A.R. Rahman will reportedly be a part of this project. Well, it looks like the ace director is all set to recapture the magic of Roja, Mouna Raagam and Alaipayuthey again on screen.

Trisha and Karthika getting together!

Trisha and Karthika of 'Ko' fame will be getting together to do a full-fledged Telugu feature film, 'Dammu' with Junior NTR! 'Dammu' by Boyapatti Seenu has Junior NTR wooing both the damsels and the shooting kick-started yesterday in a popular studio at Hyderabad.

This role was initially offered to Shruti Haasan who opted out citing few reasons and the role was offered to Kajal Aggarwal, whose terms weren't feasible to the team who finally approached Trisha who was only more than happy to do it due to her character's importance in the script.

The film will see Trisha in three various looks, one of which is that of a royal woman. Trisha currently has 'Samaran' in Tamil with Vishal, under Thiru's direction.

Trisha is unhappy over reports!

Trisha is unhappy over reports that she is to play Tollywood star Mahesh Babu’s sister-in-law in a Telugu film. In the film industry, it is well known that the sister-in-law and sister roles are considered to be offered to heroines who do not have opportunities.

Trisha says that she is not in such a position as she has several good offers in her kitty at the moment. The heroine is currently busy with the Tamil film Samaran, in which she is paired opposite Vishal. The actress adds that Samaran has a good role for her and it is equal to that of the lead star Vishal.

Rajinikanth praised the efforts of Suriya in 7am Arivu!

Rajinikanth reportedly made it to the special show of 7aum Arivu. The Superstar praised the efforts of Suriya and said that it was an excellent film. Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has said that the Superstar liked the movie and particularly appreciated Suriya for his hard work.

When asked about the first day collections, Udhayanidhi had said that 7aum Arivu’s collection is slightly lesser than that of the Rajinikanth starrer Endhiran which shows that the Superstar still rocks!

7aum Arivu had a massive opening on Diwali day and has received some good reviews so far.
